“Now, he is making his sycophants at the Department of Injustice sell out the American people and funnel billions into a slush fund designed to reward violent January 6 insurrectionists and other loyalists. Instead of using taxpayer dollars to make life more affordable and better for the American people, Donald Trump is abusing his power to corruptly enrich himself, his family and his billionaire friends.
“Never in the history of the United States has a sitting President sought a monetary settlement from the government he leads — let alone sought many billions of dollars in taxpayer funds. This arrangement creates a specter of corruption unparalleled in American history.
“House Republicans kept the Department of Homeland Security shut down because of their toxic demand to spend billions of taxpayer dollars on ICE brutality.
“Violence has no place in our democracy. Every elected official and public servant deserves to be safe. We are grateful for the swift action of law enforcement tonight.
“This ceasefire is insufficient. House Democrats demand Speaker Johnson immediately reconvene the House to move a war powers resolution to end this conflict permanently.
“Far-right authoritarian Viktor Orbán has lost the election. Trump sycophants and MAGA extremists in Congress are up next in November. Winter is coming.

“When we present something on the floor, it's our determination to win. The new resolution contains substantial differences from the first, reflecting the developments in the conflict over the last three weeks as well as the sentiment of voters, a majority of whom oppose the war.
“Donald Trump failed to seek Congressional authorization prior to striking Iran. Instead, the President's decision to abandon diplomacy and launch a massive military attack has left American troops vulnerable to Iran's retaliatory actions.
“The War Powers Resolution would require immediate termination of any additional military action. Any military action against Iran would be unconstitutional without consultation with and authorization from Congress. Every Member will have the opportunity to go on record as to whether they support military action against Iran absent Congressional approval.
“Kristi Noem should be fired immediately, or we will commence impeachment proceedings in the House of Representatives.
