“This may be felony criminal theft and conversion of government property for political campaign purposes. 18 U.S.C. 1641. It is a Hatch Act violation for any government employees who worked on it or used government resources to make it. It is blatantly unethical under numerous federal ethics provisions proscribing the use of government resources for political campaigns.

“This episode reflects both your essential frivolousness as an erstwhile representative of the United States and the Trump-Kushner family's overriding and seemingly insatiable appetite for engaging in political and financial corruption. While acting as our nation's chief negotiator to end several international conflicts created or exacerbated by your father-in-law's administration, you have taken the time to start another fraud-related international incident all by yourself.
“[Trump] has taken one of the most solemn constitutional powers of the presidency and turned it into a bustling marketplace for insider political influence.
“Presidential clemency is supposed to be an instrument of justice and mercy, not another MAGA Get-Rich-Quick-Scheme where access goes to the highest bidder.
“This footage and the incident it depict are deeply concerning. They echo the larger pattern of dishonesty and dangerous, unjustified escalation we have unfortunately seen from DHS agents across the country, which resulted in the tragic deaths of Ruben Ray Martinez, Renee Good, Alex Pretti, Joan Sebastian Durán Guerrero, and Lorenzo Salgado Araujo. What happened to Carolina Molina cannot be dismissed as an ordinary interaction between ICE and a member of the public. We therefore request that the FBI conduct a formal investigation into this incident, and that the DOJ Civil Rights Division evaluates those findings.
