“These places should be protected for every generation, not sold off to Trump’s ultra-wealthy friends to profit off of. I will fight this, both for Yosemite and for every treasured park that would be up for grabs if this domino falls.
“These fake "settlements" were already an insane waste of taxpayer funds and a ridiculous charade that seems to be blatantly illegal. This now adds the stench of corruption.
“And they're doing this in the middle of one of the worst fire seasons on record. This administration fired thousands of Forest Service employees, including people trained to fight fires, slashed the agency's budget, and let fire prevention work collapse. Now they want to build thousands of miles of new roads through our national forests, when we know most wildfires start within a half mile of a road, all so they can make it easier to clear-cut old-growth forests that have stood for centuries. It's reckless.
“The Roadless Rule protects nearly 45 million acres of the last untouched forests we have left, forests that filter drinking water for millions of families and support hunting, fishing, and small businesses in hundreds of rural communities. The Trump administration is at again, selling out our public lands to corporate polluters, ignoring the overwhelming objections of the American people.
“The most corrupt, lawless administration in American history is once again flouting the law. Trump is strongarming companies into taking these illegal deals and abandoning offshore wind projects. These fake settlements have now reached the tune of about $4 billion.
“The donors may well have been defrauded in a way that could constitute wire fraud.
“You're paying more for groceries. More for gas. More for healthcare. All while Trump is spending your money on a gaudy 250-foot arch by Arlington Cemetery, a UFC cage on the South Lawn, and tearing down the East Wing to build his ballroom.
