“[In a letter to President Trump urging him to use Xi Jinping's state visit to secure the release of wrongfully detained people, including American citizen Min Zin:] Even a single mention of a detainee's name by a senior U.S. official, let alone by yourself, can significantly increase that individual's chances of clemency or improved treatment.
“We urge the Israeli government to immediately rescind these tenders, halt settlement expansion in the West Bank, and take urgent action to rein in settler violence.
“With this deal, President Trump is not only triggering a nuclear arms race in the Middle East but also weakening America's security and standing on the world stage.
“The President's decision to provide Saudi Arabia with a nuclear deal that does not meet the bipartisan Gold Standard nor mandate the Additional Protocol, both necessary to ensure sensitive U.S. technology is not used to help build a nuclear bomb, is dangerous and a strategic mistake for our national security.
“This resolution demands answers about these abuses and accountability for those responsible.
“Given the scale, visibility, and long-term implications of this project, an independent GAO review is essential to ensure accountability, transparency, and responsible management of federal resources and historic assets.
“Congress has neither authorized nor appropriated funding for the "East Wing Modernization Project," nor has Congress been provided any planning details or justifications that would allow for informed consideration of the White House's plans that would be a prerequisite for authorization or appropriation of funds.
“While we continue to see too many Pentagon programs burdened by cost overruns, delays, and unrealistic promises that fail to meet reality, Congress cannot afford to commit to another massive military boondoggle that will only succeed in filling the coffers of the military-industrial complex.
“At a time when families are struggling to afford groceries, gas, healthcare, and childcare, Congress cannot throw hundreds of billions of dollars at Trump’s “Golden Fleet,” including plastering his name across a new battleship.
“Congress must reject it.
“The Department of Justice's highest-ranking officials continue to break the law, denying justice.
“This president has repeatedly spoken of an enemies list that he wants to go after, and I must say it's one of the symbols of the breakdown of a democratic republic.
“President Trump's war of choice against Iran should be called 'Operation Epic Failure.' The Trump Administration refuses to give Congress straight answers about the war, is demonstrating dangerous incompetence, and continues to mislead the American people about the realities of this war and all that it has failed to accomplish.
“Republicans are ignoring the needs of middle-class America and instead funneling money into Trump's ballroom and throwing billions into two lawless agencies.
“Now that Republicans have unveiled their bill gifting ICE and Border Patrol nearly $70 billion to continue propping up Trump's rogue police and wreaking havoc across American communities, Senate Democrats are prepared to review this bill line by line and vigorously challenge any provision that violates the Byrd Rule.
