Watch Kennedy’s comments here. WASHINGTON – Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) explained why he believes Senate Democrats will refuse to pass a new budget in favor of another government shutdown before the midterm elections in a speech on the U.S. Senate floor. Key excerpts of the speech are below: “I do not want America to be the world’s policeman. But I don’t want Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin and the Ayatollah in Iran to be, either. We have to meet this challenge. To do that, we have to spend more money on defense. I wish we didn’t, but we do. “Now, there are only three ways to do that, as you know,
WASHINGTON—House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) hosted a Trump Accounts forum at the Oxford Public Library with parents and grandparents from Michigan’s 9th District to discuss how families can start building long-term financial security for their children. “Trump Accounts give the next generation a head start on the American Dream,” Chairwoman McClain said. “House Republicans and President Trump believe families should have more tools to save, invest, and plan for their children’s future. A badly needed new farm bill is overdue—the current bill in effect was passed in 2018 and its safety net programs are no longer saving farmers amid the ongoing agriculture crisis. Crop prices are low and input prices are skyrocketing. Arkansas farmers are losing hundreds of dollars an acre across the state's major crops, and the crisis is starting to

Built for the people who feed America, the proposal delivers more certainty for farm families, rural communities and the nation’s food supply. Arkansas agriculture leaders are applauding the Senate plan. Here’s what they’re saying: “Arkansas farmers and ranchers appreciate Sen. John Boozman and the Senate Agriculture Committee for releasing a farm bill proposal that strengthens the farm safety net and addresses the challenges facing a
