The President's poll numbers are sinking, so he's ginning up a reason to invade and looking for a quick win to feel tough.

I offer this amendment for one simple reason: taxpayer dollars should never be used to enrich a sitting president, his family or his political allies. Right now, Americans are struggling with high prices and economic uncertainty. Federal dollars should be used to lower costs and serve the American people and not create a slush fund for the president's political allies or to reward those who assaulted law enforcement.

After promising to keep America out of war and instead focus on lowering costs for families, Donald Trump has launched a large-scale military operation against Iran. We've seen this playbook before. Weeks of inflated claims, selective facts, and talk of imminent threats that led the American people into a war that cost thousands of American lives and trillions of taxpayer dollars.

I lost friends in Iraq to an illegal war. Young working-class kids should not pay the ultimate price for regime change and a war that hasn't been explained or justified to the American people. President Trump promised no more forever wars. Instead, he has illegally dragged us into another one without congressional authorization and no long term strategy.

The new ballroom is a practical investment in America's most important home. For years, the White House has struggled to accommodate large-scale events, whether for state visits, national ceremonies or even bipartisan gatherings that bring leaders together.
