“John Cornyn, I believe, had been a great partner for us in the Senate, and had done a great job for Texas and for our country. But you know, the voters, Republican voters in Texas spoke last night. Ken Paxton is our nominee heading into November, and we've got to pivot and go all-in to make sure that we keep Texas red.

“It became more complicated and a bumpy path than we hoped. The White House should have consulted Congress before it announced the settlement — it made everything way harder than it should be.
“I think that there are — and will be, continue to be — a lot of questions around that that the administration is going to have to answer.
“Not a big fan. I'm not exactly sure how they would use it, but my understanding is that was just announced. But yeah, I don't see a purpose for that.
“Yeah, not a big fan. I'm not sure exactly how they intend to use it. But my understanding is that was just announced... I don't see a purpose for that.
“I think it would be best if everybody hung together and supported the president.
“We have a multistep process ahead of us, but at the end Republicans will have helped ensure that America's borders are secure and prevented Democrats from defunding these important agencies.
“I really regret that the Democrats have forced us down this path, because in my view, the appropriations process is one of the, maybe not many, but at least few things that we ought to be able to do around here in a bipartisan way.

“Democrats have repeatedly said that they want to pay TSA, Coast Guard, FEMA and employees who defend America from cyber attacks. This bill would do it. The time to end this is now.
“To succeed, it would have to be pretty narrowly focused. Reconciliation is — it's what the traffic will bear.
“The Trump administration's actions are consistent with what previous administrations have done in prior conflicts. The president was perfectly within his rights to take the steps that he took.
“Despite the dogged efforts of the president and his administration, the Iranian regime has refused the diplomatic off-ramps that would peacefully resolve these national security concerns. Iran posed a clear and unacceptable threat to U.S. servicemembers.
“I'm not in favor of federalizing elections, no. I think that's a constitutional issue. I'm a big believer in decentralized and distributed power. And I think it's harder to hack 50 election systems than it is to hack one. In my view, at least, that's always a system that has worked pretty well.
