We leave here with a very simple proposal: a method of understanding that is our final and best offer. We'll see if the Iranians accept it. After 21 hours of negotiations, they refused to accept American terms to not develop a nuclear weapon.

We need to see an affirmative commitment that they will not seek a nuclear weapon, and they will not seek the tools that would enable them to quickly achieve a nuclear weapon. After 21 hours of negotiations, the Iranians refused to accept American terms. We remain willing to negotiate, but the terms have to be acceptable.

This is a fragile truce. The work of the next two weeks will determine whether we can build a lasting agreement or whether we return to the situation we were in twenty-four hours ago. The president has made his position clear: no enrichment, full reopening of the Strait, and verifiable commitments.

The United States never once said Lebanon was part of the ceasefire. We never made that promise. Iran's foreign minister has been responding well to the ceasefire, but others in the country have been lying about the agreement. This is why I say this is a fragile truce. If Iran wants this to fall apart over Lebanon, that's on them.
